Replacement of the rechargeable battery

At shutdown of the rechargeable battery the radio equipment which is not production of AUDI demands input of a code. Therefore it is necessary to find out a code and to write down it. Otherwise the radio receiver can be switched on only it by the manufacturer. |

Not to lose the data recorded with electronic media, it is possible to use the temporary battery of small capacity. She joins the lighter before shutdown of the rechargeable battery according to the instruction of the manufacturer. |
Removal
|
|
- Switch off electric consumers. Switch off ignition. Thus electronic devices will be protected from possible damages.

Models with the Telematik system: Activate service mode of the control unit of the Telematik system since otherwise at shutdown of the rechargeable battery the emergency Telematik battery is discharged. For this purpose enter on a tube of management the sequence of keys #4610# and confirm it with pressing of the Navi key.
- Uncover over a water-collecting compartment, address the Section Removal and installation of a cover of a water-collecting compartment.

|
If the rechargeable battery is only switched-off, but is not removed, it is necessary to displace a cover over the battery to the right and to remove it. |
|
- Disconnect cables from the battery, at first a cable of weight (1), then a positive cable (2).
|
|
- Unscrew the screw (4) plates of fastening (3) at the battery basis.
- If necessary, disconnect a hose of the central gas outlet from the battery.
- Extend the battery under a plate of fastening and take out it from a motive compartment.

Installation
|
|
- Before installation of the rechargeable battery smooth out poles to gloss. The brush from a brass wire is suitable for this purpose.
- Install the battery into place, shift the battery basis under a plate of fastening and fix by the moment 12 Nanometers.
- Before connection of the battery check that ignition and all electric consumers were switched off.
- Attach at first a positive cable to a positive pole (+), then a negative cable to a negative pole (-). Tighten nuts of fastening the moment of 6 Nanometers.

Owing to wrong connection of the battery there can be serious damages of the generator and electric devices. |
|
|
|
Do not grease poles of the rechargeable battery. |
|
- Establish a cover over a water-collecting compartment, address the Section Removal and installation of a cover of a water-collecting compartment.
- If it is necessary, enter a radio receiver code.
- If it is necessary, again enter programs of the radio receiver.
- Establish hours.
- Models with the Telematik system: Deactivate service mode of the Telematik control unit. For this purpose press a Navi-key on a tube of management.
