Replacement of motive oil and oil filter

General information

The long contact of skin with the fulfilled motive oil is quite dangerous. Use protective cream and put on gloves during this procedure. Replace the clothes which became impregnated with oil immediately.

Frequent replacement of motive oil is the main preventive procedure of service, to the available amateur mechanic. Eventually oil is subject to fluidifying and pollution that leads to premature wear of the engine.

Motive oil can be extorted by means of the special probe (is available at gas stations) through a tube of the probe of measurement of level of oil. After that it is necessary to fill system with oil, as a rule.

Do not pour out the fulfilled oil together with household waste or otherwise. It can cause environmental pollution.

Expediently when replacing oil to fix on the engine a label with brand of oil and its viscosity.

Use of oils of various types adversely affects operation of the engine. It is not recommended to mix various brands of oils also. Motive oils of the same type and brand, but various viscosity in necessary cases, in particular in off-season, can mix up.

Necessary tool

  • Viewing hole or the hydroelevator with supports (if oil is not sucked away).
  • Head for an otvorachivaniye of a drain stopper.
  • The special tool for a filter otvorachivaniye (a key for the filter, a tape key or the HAZET 2171-1 tool).
  • Capacity for collecting oil (if oil is not sucked away) with a capacity not less than 6 l.

Necessary spare parts and expendables

  • Only if oil is not sucked away: an aluminum or copper sealing ring for a drain stopper (are sometimes delivered together with an oil filter).
  • Oil filter.
  • Necessary amount of the motive oil resolved by the manufacturer address Specifications.

Oil filter

On sale there are filters with replaceable paper elements. Advantage them is that only the filter element is subject to replacement.

The oil filter consists of the case (1), a cover (2) and a filter element (3). The case of an oil filter fastens bolts on the block of cylinders instead of the former oil boss. Depending on the manufacturer on the case of the filter there can be a drain stopper (4). Filter elements of various manufacturers are interchanged irrespective of the applied cartridge.

Removal of motive oil

Motive oil can be removed with an exhaustion method, through an opening of the probe or is merged from the case pallet.

Suction requires the corresponding pump. At the same time it is necessary to watch that the hose corresponded to an opening and had sufficient length.

  1. Diesel engine: Turn off a cover on the filter case so that oil could merge from the filter case in the pallet.
  2. Suck away or merge oil. For this purpose lift and install the car horizontally on supports or put the car over a viewing hole.
  3. Remove the lower cover of a motive compartment, address the Section Removal and installation of the top cover of the engine / the lower protection of a motive compartment / stretcher.
  4. Put under a drain stopper capacity for the fulfilled oil. You watch that at a reversing of a drain stopper hot oil did not get on hands. Therefore at an otvorachivaniye of a stopper you hold a hand horizontally.
  1. Turn out a drain stopper (1) from the pallet of a case (2) and completely merge the fulfilled oil.

If at the fulfilled oil in a large number there is a metal shaving and products of wear, it indicates existence of zadir, for example, in bearings of a bent shaft and conrod bearings. To exclude undesirable consequences of repair, it is necessary to clear oil channels and hoses carefully. Besides, it is necessary to clear an oil cooler if it is available.

  1. In conclusion wrap a drain stopper with a new sealing ring. Do not exceed the admissible moment of an inhaling, otherwise it can lead to loss of tightness and damages.
  1. Lower the car on wheels.

Replacement of an oil filter

The used filters or filter elements are special material and have to be utilized in a special way.

Petrol engine

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Disconnect an oil filter. For this purpose there are special tools, for example, a tape key or the HAZET 2171-1 tool. Wipe with a rag the flowed-out oil. On an accompanying illustration the oil filter of the 4-cylinder engine is shown.
  1. Clear by means of fuel a flange of an oil filter on the block of cylinders. Remove the remains of sealing laying.
  2. Grease with a thin layer of pure motive oil a rubber sealing ring on the new filter.
  3. Fix by hand a new oil filter. When consolidation lies down to the block of cylinders, turn the filter on 1/2 turns. If on the case of the filter there are instructions, follow them.

L engines 2.4, 3.0: After replacement of the boss of an oil filter check whether freely there pass the hoses going from the oil refrigerator to adjacent parts and, if necessary, modify position of the oil refrigerator.

Diesel engine of 1.9 l

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Turn off by means of a key for filters, for example, of HAZET 2169 or VW/AUDI-3417 a cover.
  1. Replace sealing rings and a filter element.
  2. Tighten a cover a key for filters the moment of 25 Nanometers.

Diesel engine of 2.5 l

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Turn off a cover of the filter (1) a key for filters on 32 mm, for example, of HAZET 2169-2. Replace a filter element (3), and also a sealing ring (2) on a filter cover.
  1. Screw a filter cover on the case and fix by its moment 25 Nanometers.
  2. Establish into place the top cover of the engine, address the Section Removal and installation of the top cover of the engine / the lower protection of a motive compartment / stretcher.

Filling of system with motive oil

At the diesel engine at the first start after replacement of oil you watch that the engine at first worked only at single turns until the lamp of control of pressure of oil goes out. Only after that pressure of oil reaches the full value and it is possible to give gas to the engine. If to give gas at the burning lamp of control of pressure, owing to insufficient lubricant the turbocompressor can be damaged.

  1. Open a cover (1) and fill in new oil via the jellied union of a cover of a head of cylinders.

It is recommended to pour at first in oils 0.5 l less necessary volume, to start the engine, to warm up it and in a few minutes the index to check oil level. If necessary, to add oil. Surplus of oil should be sucked away since otherwise consolidations of the engine and the catalytic converter can be damaged.

  1. Level of oil is normal if lies in the range (In). If the level of oil lies in the range (C), oil needs to be added to range level (In).   1. Pass on the car and check tightness of a drain stopper and an oil filter, if necessary, carefully tighten a stopper.
  1. In 3 min. after a stop of the engine double-check oil level, if necessary, modify.
  1. Establish the lower cover of a motive compartment, address the Section Removal and installation of the top cover of the engine / the lower protection of a motive compartment / stretcher.
